Interview with Bill Gates: Was the $5 Billion Worth It? (for education)
I just watched “Waiting for Superman” which featured Bill Gates rather prominently… interesting to read this article where he talks about the different techniques that his foundation has tried to improve education in the US and he openly admits to his failures although he focuses on what he’s like to do moving forward - a stringent teacher evaluation system. I won’t claim to know too much about the public education system in the US (suffice it to say I think I had a great public education) but it did seem like in the movie the biggest hurdle to improving public education was changing entrenched systems of organized labor in the education sector. Not sure how teachers will buy in to Gates’ plans but I can’t wait to see him try…
